Hello everyone,
Hope you're having a nice summer and staying cool. We have some news for you.
Haram has finished recording their second full-length, Drescher, at the Outpost with Jim Siegel. The album will be released this fall to coincide with their European tour in November. Their new songs are really amazing and we are very excited about the new full-length. The band will also be playing some East Coast shows throughout the fall.
In other Haram news, The Levi's BMX team is using the song Mountain of Youth by Haram as the intro to all of their weekly web videos this year. Visit: target="_blank">Levi's BMX to check it out.
We are excited to announce that we will be releasing a new full-length from Sterling, Virginia's Pygmy Lush sometime early next year. The band comprises of Mike Taylor from Haram, his brother Chris (pg.99), Johnny Ward (pg. 99, Malady), Mike Widman (Mannequin), Mike Benish (Sail), and Steve Worrell. The band is going to record a follow-up to their upcoming Robotic Empire release at the end of the month at God City with Kurt Ballou. We hope to have up some MP3s on our site soon for you to check out. In the mean time, visit Pygmy Lush’s target="_blank">web site to check out some tunes.
We will also be releasing the debut full-length by Quieting Syrup, the solo project of Stephen Howard from Pinebender. The record, Songs About A Sick Boy, has been done for quite a while and will finally be getting mastered soon. It is really captivating and we are happy that it will be available for people to check out.
Speaking of Pinebender, they have a show lined up on August 25th at the Empty Bottle in Chicago with Pelican. We will have a new Pinebender t-shirt design in our web store in a few weeks.
A vinyl version of the Glös full-length Harmonium is going to be coming out soon as a split release with ADAGIO830 records in Germany. The pressing is going to be limited, and we will be taking pre-orders on the website for it in a few weeks.
The Engine Down DVD is finally almost done! The final touches are currently being worked on. The wait will be well worth it, as the DVD features a documentary on the bands farewell tour, their final set in its entirety, other live footage, music videos, a photo gallery, several unreleased songs, movies the band made over the years, and much more. We hope to have a new trailer on the site soon for you to check out. Also, we unearthed some Engine Down shirts left over from their last tour and are selling them in the web store. Quantities are limited.
We recently released a digital-only release by Flowers of Doom, which is the new project from collaborators Matthew Compton (Engine Down, Glös) and Josiah Steinbrick (Heavens). Their debut album, Planning Accidental Genius, is a showcase of the duo's love for vintage foreign film scores, avant-garde composition, rare groove, and ambient soundscapes. Working off improvisational recording sessions with high concept in mind, the album was made sporadically out of collected moments of inspiration at their home studio. It's the soundtrack to a film yet to be made, requiring the listener to create their own cinematic experience. You can get it from iTunes, eMusic, and many other digital music stores.
Fin Fang Foom, who recently got back from their European tour with Ben Davis & The Jetts, started writing their next full-length. They hope to finish the writing process in the next few months. They will be playing select shows through out the fall and are still planning on going to Japan in the near future.
Des Ark just finished a 7-week US tour. They are taking a well-deserved break and are going to be writing and recording their new full-length with Jonathan Fuller in Richmond, Virginia. They are planning on touring Europe during the early part of 2008.
Sleepytime Trio's Plus 6000 will be reissued on vinyl sometime in the fall/winter.
In order to make room and raise funds for all of the new releases mentioned above and some other we are working on, we are having a huge sale in our web store on a lot of items. Please look around and pick up those missing things you have been wanting for a while.
Take Care,
Lovitt
